In today’s fast-moving digital world, a career in technology demands more than just technical expertise—it calls for adaptability, lifelong learning, and authentic connection. Recently nominated for the Rising Talent Award by TechWomen4Boards, Asma Batool reflects on a career spanning over a decade in the dynamic field of information technology.
Having been associated with information technology for more than a decade, my professional journey has been a continuous expansion of horizons. From my first job in technology research to my current position in IT Risk and Security, I have had the opportunity to engage with a wide range of organizations spanning various industries across multiple countries.
Reflecting on this journey, the foundational elements that have shaped my career have always been curiosity, embracing challenges, and helping others. This trio has been pivotal in both my professional and personal growth.
Curiosity has fueled my desire to learn new things, embracing challenges has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, and helping others has fostered a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Leveraging networking with a growth mindset has also been instrumental in broadening my perspective. Engaging with professionals from diverse backgrounds and industries has enriched my knowledge and broadened my awareness of the multiple facets of the IT landscape.
Recently, I was honored to be nominated for a technology award by TechWomen4Boards in the Rising Talent category. As I reflect on this nomination, I am reminded that individual success is often rooted in collective progress—shaped by the communities, mentors, and organizations that uplift and empower. A cause particularly close to my heart is the growing presence and impact of women in cybersecurity and technology.
Both TechWomen4Boards and Women Cyber Force (Women4Cyber, Luxembourg) are doing incredible work to advance this cause by creating more opportunities, increasing visibility, and opening leadership pathways for women in the tech space—efforts that are essential to fostering greater leadership representation and influence for women across the industry.
I am proud to support and align myself with initiatives like theirs, which understand that true progress in technology depends on diversity, inclusion, and equity.
I hope this recognition not only reflects my journey but also inspires more women to step into technology with confidence, knowing their voice, vision, and talent are needed now more than ever.
As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
